The community may want to rethink breeding &/or perpetuating misconceptions of gay people promoting & accepting stereotypes good & bad. Gay people are: creative, emotional, use party drugs, neat, promiscuous etc. Beyond the obvious context of humour, these stereotypes may serve to deepen the confusion & fuel hate.

A campaign brochure may plead, ‘I’m just like you’. But on the other hand you protest, ‘I’m nothing like you, I’m glitter bomb!’ It’s confusing. Sure, gay people like all people come inherent with their human multitude of personalities. This is true but essentially irrelevant to the argument. It’s like kind but ignorant people saying, ‘I have a lot of gay friends. They are bitchy & fun. I like them. Just let them marry if they like because they are no threat to traditional family values.’ Because threat or no threat, it’s not for a government to decide to curtail these rights.

Gay people are human beings entitled their rights. End of story. Their lifestyle choices or ability to coordinate colours need not be entered into discussion. Stop muddling the real message with rainbows.

I get my photos stolen quite often. I guess that’s a nod of approval to my work as an amateur iPhone photographer extraordinaire. I’m really quite good. Many friends have used the portraits I’ve taken of them as their Facebook profile shot. At least one of them a professional photographer. We all know how important Facebook profile shots are, right? It can determine the king of misery you’re headed for the rest of your life. (Recently, I attended a wedding of a couple who met on Facebook.) I’m such a good photographer some guy has even used a picture of my legs as his own. It made me walk a little taller & soap them a little longer in the bath that same day I found out. I did not report him.

I’m sorry I report fake Facebook profiles though. Because you make random friend requests on my behalf. It makes me look ~~bad~~ sad. I mean I feel quite desperate for friends & intimacy too but I would like to embarrass myself myself. Besides, most of the time, I prefer to be alone now. The whole ‘why’ is a different blog post I may or may not write. So stop building fake Facebook profiles with my pictures. And my dear Facebook friends, can you not be such sluts & approve everybody who asks? You don’t know who you’re opening up your friends to.

Quite some time ago, I noticed some people ‘borrowing’ from my Twitter bio. The old one:

I’ve never told the story, have I? It’s about my little baby cousin W because he was kind of like a genius & a spelling bee & he could spell hippopotamus before his time. (He’s a lot younger because I remember being a lot taller.) The adults were quite a bunch of jerks because they would make us compete at reciting our multiplication tables & I would lose because I went like, ‘1 x 2, 2, 2 x 2, 4….’ & W would be racing like, ’ 2, 4, 6, 8…’ & I sucked at spelling too because I had to look down & watch my index finger write it on my palm & read out the letters. So yeah. It made me feel quite lousy & nobody thought that it was going to scar me for life. By the way, I still do the same thing today when I’m asked to spell something. But I can finger it on tabletops too & I can write it in the air now. A dear friend F had his suspicions & he made me spell hippopotamus to him one day & I did so in shock & very hesitantly & it tickled him quite a bit. He also made me pronounce Thierry Mugler. If you guys are interested, it’s kind of like ‘theory’, ‘mew-glare’. I digress. With this paragraph I just meant to let you know what you were referencing when you ‘borrow’ from my hippo bio. That it’s just a piece of my lousy childhood. That’s all.

I meant for this to be a tweet long. And look how far I’ve come without saying what I wanted to say. Sometimes people ‘borrow’ my writing. That’s sweet. Sometimes people imitate my tweets & misplace my meter or rhyme & that makes me a giggle a little. I think I’m entitled that much. Sometimes they miss out on the sarcasm intended altogether. Sometimes people copy it verbatim, sometimes regularly. I just wanted to say, I know. And it’s okay. And I promise never to call you out one by one on Twitter & humiliate you because it did cross my mind but then I figured out that that’s me being a selfish bitch. What’s the matter with a few people stealing some lousy tweets? I should be flattered. So I mean to say thank you. Because it felt quite good today when I started thinking about my stand on this issue & got it all figured out. So you borrowers keep doing that thing you do. But maybe make a little space from all that ‘borrowing’ for a little faith in yourself? I never thought that I would one day write tweets that some guy who doesn’t even follow me, has more followers than I do, would regularly ‘borrow’. If PG can do it, surely so can you!
